Sister Faulk taught the Relief Society lesson.   The topic was on an April 2018 General Conference Talk given by Elder Massimo de Feo, Pure Love:   The True Sign of Every True Disciple of Jesus Christ.   The main points are: we are to love Heavenly Father with all of our heart, might, mind and strength, and He loves us with all of his heart, might, mind, and strength; learn and love to forgive; love the Lord more than man; and a mother’s love.   How reassuring it is to know Heavenly Father loves us immensely.   Four missionaries had dinner with us Sunday night.   We celebrated an Elder being discharged after many days in the hospital. True to Utah nursing culture, Sister Faulk took the medical/surgical nurses a tub of licorice with a note of thanks for their care.   Sunday dinner with Elders Gallup, Littledike, Cook, Rogers, and Faulk: This week we were busy with clinical missionary appointments and treating missionaries to lunch ...

We appreciated the opportunity to listen to the Sunday sessions of General Conference.  We were excited to hear there will be 12 new temples especially in Puerto Rico and Cambodia.  There are many people in our area from Puerto Rico.  They came because of the devastation from the hurricane last year.  Sister Faulk served on the USNS Mercy in Cambodian waters 10 years after their son, Joseph, served a mission in Phnom Penh.  We also look forward to the change from 3 hours of Sunday meetings to 2 hours of meetings scheduled for January.   Ruben and Sisters Stratton and Shomaker, had Sunday breakfast with us.  Elder Faulk made waffles. Thursday evening we attended the temple with other Senior missionaries.  It is faith promoting to gather with friends and participate in holy ordinances.  Elder Faulk is busy sharing Book of Mormons with others.  This week he gave one to a bank officer. The young banker graciously accepted it and said...

There is a definite change in the weather.  The temperature is slightly cooler.  It is delightful however we still need air conditioning in the car and apartment.  The night is coming earlier.   There are lizards everywhere in FL: Tuesday we took an Elder downtown to a specialty doctor appointment.  Afterward we treated him and his companion to super juicy burgers at a place near the mission office.   Elders Gallup and Hailstone are ready for burgers: Thursday, a young Elder required hospitalization and surgery.  Sister Faulk  loved spending time teaching him and providing basic care.  It was interesting to compare and contrast hospitals in Utah and Florida.  In January, the Florida Hospital system will change their name to Advent Health.  Christ is emphasized in the healing process throughout their hospitals.   Elder Faulk helped Dr. Naughtin (local LDS MD) remodel office space on Friday ...

Week 33: September 23-29, 2018

We are very blessed to make friends through the gospel of Jesus Christ. We love our colleagues in the mission office and those a little bit further away with whom we serve too. We witness their love and kindness, and dedication to serve Him. We love new members and share their joy as they take hold of  Gospel principles and enrich their lives by drawing nearer to our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ.    Elder Faulk gave away 4 Book of Mormons this week:  one to a postal clerk; one to an attendant at a Circle K; one to a gas attendant at Costco; and one to a fellow in need at the Wawa. The fellow at Wawa agreed to learn more about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the missionaries are scheduled to begin teaching him next week.  We attended a concert in The Villages by a Swedish group playing ABBA music. It was fun to hear popular songs from decades ago and watch the audience. The music of ABBA: Ruben and Lancelot ...

Week 32: September 16-22, 2018

Summer is officially coming to an end.  We've experienced 2 seasons in Florida, Spring and Summer, with only heat and rain as inconveniences.  The peak hurricane season is over. Cocoa Beach water temperatures are in the mid to high 80s and that is a delightful place to spend the last day of summer.  Elder and Sister Faulk on the last day of summer: Sisters Schomaker and Stratton came for dinner on Tuesday.  Sister Faulk made baked salmon and asparagus.  Of course we had pumpkin pie for dessert.  It was fun to watch the Sisters enjoy themselves.  Sister Stratton will be returning home to Utah in a few days after serving 18 months in Florida.  We will miss her. We were busy taking missionaries to medical appointments again this week.  We are blessed to have excellent clinical facilities near by.  On Friday, Sister Faulk gave a Health and Happiness presentation to the newest missionaries encouraging them to take good care of ...
