Week 32: September 16-22, 2018

Summer is officially coming to an end.  We've experienced 2 seasons in Florida, Spring and Summer, with only heat and rain as inconveniences.  The peak hurricane season is over. Cocoa Beach water temperatures are in the mid to high 80s and that is a delightful place to spend the last day of summer.

Elder and Sister Faulk on the last day of summer:

Sisters Schomaker and Stratton came for dinner on Tuesday.  Sister Faulk made baked salmon and asparagus.  Of course we had pumpkin pie for dessert.  It was fun to watch the Sisters enjoy themselves.  Sister Stratton will be returning home to Utah in a few days after serving 18 months in Florida.  We will miss her.

We were busy taking missionaries to medical appointments again this week.  We are blessed to have excellent clinical facilities near by.  On Friday, Sister Faulk gave a Health and Happiness presentation to the newest missionaries encouraging them to take good care of themselves to promote optimal health.  We are grateful for the opportunity to teach and support missionaries toward better health.

Elders Rocha and Jorgensen at IHOP:

Elders Spainhower, Faulk, and Memmottt at Panda Express:

As Senior missionaries prepare to conclude their mission, the mission president and his wife host a dinner for them inviting all the Sr. couples.  In a few days, The Christensen's will make their way back to California.  We have grown to love them dearly.  They served as Member Leadership Support missionaries in the Clermont area.  They are a tremendous example of caring for others.

Florida Orlando Sr Missionaries say farewell to Elder and Sister Christensen:

As people marry, some look for "their song" or something else to symbolize their love.  Sister Clark mentioned early in their marriage, she and President Clark chose a scripture and it has been on display in their home (including the mission home) as a reminder since that time.  What would our homes and communities be like if more people did that?  Would we remember our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ, a little bit more in our hearts, words, and deeds?  As the seagull flies above the waves looking for food, let us too rise and nourish our souls with the restored and everlasting Gospel!

Looking for food in Cocoa Beach waters:
