Week 78: August 4-10, 2019

We are in the rainy season and it rains hard every afternoon.  We don’t have to wash the car!  Sometimes the gutters and street drains have a hard time handing all the water.

Two rockets were launched from Cape Canaveral this week.  Sister Faulk never tires of watching them.   We saw both from our apartment with is about 50 miles away from the coast.  The first rocket was taking supplies to the Space Station.  The 2nd rocket carried a satellite to improve coverage for US military communications.

Rocket Launch:

We were busy helping and teaching missionaries with phones, finances, and health.  Gratefully, we did not have too many missionaries needing medical care!  That gave Sister Faulk time to organize files and update power point presentations.

Sisters Gates, Faulk, and Jensen:

The missionaries are introducing Mauricio to the Church and invited him to our English classes.   He came.  He rides a motorcycle so Sister Faulk showed him a photo of hers in Lehi.  We taught lesson 20/25 about homes and floor plans.

Elder Faulk and Mauricio:

Thursday evening the Senior couples gathered for a spicy Mexican meal at Chuy’s before going to the temple.  Elder Faulk had a steak burrito and Sister Faulk had a chili relleno. The chips were thin, fresh, and warm.  At the temple, we participated in initiatory work.  Sister Faulk had very old French and Chinese names.   Elder Faulk had mostly English/American names.

Sister and Elder Faulk at the Orlando Temple:

We spent a delightful Saturday at Cocoa Beach.  It was crowded but fun.  The temperature was in the 90s but a nice breeze and shady umbrellas helped a lot.  The ocean was very warm and refreshing.  Sister Faulk walked about 5 miles along the shoreline.  Saturday evening Elder Faulk went to an Elder’s Quorum Brazilian BBQ dinner.  It was at the Elder’s Quorum President’s (Barcellos) home.  Elder Faulk said everyone had a nice time and Mauricio came too.

We are so grateful for the blessings of the Gospel.  The Church makes a difference in our lives.   We love being in Florida.  But more importantly, we love to serve and lift others.  Treating people with respect and love is the Savior’s way.  His way brings peace and happiness.  We love our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ.  We pray our thoughts and actions reflect that love!
