Week 57: March 10-16, 2019

We enjoy our mission so much!  In addition to missionary responsibilities, fun things are happening.

Elder Faulk placed a Book of Mormon with a man he met at a Racetrack gas station.  The man said he would received the missionaries and gave Elder Faulk his business card.  Elder Faulk gave it to the APs and we pray this man will be receptive to the Gospel.

Ramona, the facility’s manager shared fresh starfruit from her tree.  It was the first time Elder and Sister Faulk had seen or tasted starfruit.  It was delicious and a real treat.  We learned starfruit trees grow very fast and require significant annual pruning.

Fresh, sliced starfruit:

Mid week, Elder Faulk saw a dentist in Eustis and we meet friends, Susan and Craig, for juicy burgers at the Hurricane Grill.  Over the weekend we met the same friends for a St Patrick’s Day corned beef dinner at Mary’s, an old restaurant in Leesburg.  The servings were plentiful and there was enough to take home for leftovers. We spotted an alligator curled up on the way in.  On the way out, he had moved a few feet just enough to put his nose in the water.

Hiding in the lily pads:

On Friday, Sister Faulk had a great haircut from Mark’s at the Point in Vero Beach.  We arrived early enough to spend a few minutes down the street at a quiet waterfront park.  After the haircut, we lingered over a seafood boil dinner at the Crab Stop and ate our dessert, chocolate cake, first! Later we went to Golden Sands Beach to look for shark teeth.  The sunset was beautiful that evening.  From the beach we saw the orange glow of a Delta IV rocket launch carrying military communications and after it was out of sight, we heard its rumble!

President Clark graciously extended our mission from January 12 to April 10, 2020.  We are excited to continue serving Him and helping those around us.   We are so grateful for our many blessings.
