Week 55: February 24-March 2, 2019

This week, Sister Faulk was able to arrange for an Orlando temple worker to see an orthopedic specialist.  Elder Faulk gladly accepted the role of chauffeur.  Sister Scrivens has a very strong work ethic and testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  She will find it difficult not to serve in the temple and let others serve her while she recovers. It was interesting to learn she was from England, had a ballet studio, and later became a speech pathologist.

Sister Faulk and Sister Scrivens:

We held Zone Conferences on Tuesday at the Wetherbee building and Thursday at the Lake Mary building.  On Tuesday, it was the Senior missionaries’ turn to provide the meal.  Sisters Mantyla and Ekenstam lead us into the kitchen.  We served a homemade quiche casserole, bananas and grapes, yogurt, and homemade cinnamon rolls.  The missionaries quickly returned for second helpings.  The purpose of Zone Conferences is to teach, inspire, improve, motivate, and lift the missionaries as they share the Gospel.  We love the last few minutes of each conference when the missionaries share what they have learned.   One Elder said he will give the Lord an accounting of his day every night before bedtime.   How would it be if we all did that?

Thursday, Sister Faulk helped coordinate medical imaging for Elder Osman.  He too has a very strong spirit and work ethic.  He truly loves the Lord and we appreciate that example.  We wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Elder Osman and Sister Faulk:

As Elder Faulk moves forward on his scooter and Sister Faulk works through a sore back (no more lifting pallets of water), we recognize our blessing and express gratitude for Our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ.  It is wonderful to serve in Orlando. Presenting to the Florida Orlando Mission office a year ago on February 26th, we celebrated one evening this week with a steak dinner at Longhorn!  We appreciate simple blessings such as caring for ourselves, warm sunny days, beautiful palm trees, good neighbors and mission office colleagues, and great missionaries.  The Lord knows our strengths and weaknesses.  He knows the desires of our hearts.  He provides us with opportunities to help others.   He will be involved in all aspects of our lives if we come unto Him!
