Week 29: August 26-September 1, 2018

Joseph and Annie and their family came to stay with us over the Labor Day weekend.  It is 800 miles from their home to Virginia to ours in Orlando.  Friday night we went to Gator’s Dockside to sample real gator tail.   The weather forecast predicted rain Saturday and Sunday but Sister Faulk offered a prayer and good weather prevailed for us!  We spent one day playing in the warm ocean at Cocoa Beach and the next day Captain Craig took us around Lake Griffin to look for gators.  We saw many birds including a great blue heron and later heard a splash and glimpsed a long tail going underwater.   The children love nature! What a blessing it is to have a wonderful family who is strong in the Gospel and for sealing ordinances in the temples.

Earlier in the week we joyfully received a large group of new missionaries.  We love their spirit and enthusiasm!   They are so anxious to invite others to come unto Christ.   They arrived Monday and President and Sister Clark hosted a welcome dinner for them and the mission office Sr. missionaries.  Tuesday, President and Sister Clark held a farewell dinner for another group of missionaries preparing to return home.  Sister Faulk made a salad for one of those nights.  Another night, Sister Faulk made quick sandwiches for Portuguese speaking Elders Rocha and Jorgensen who just happened to be in the neighborhood after dinnertime.   We took a Sister missionary companionship to a local Florida Hospital for labs then brunch at IHOP.  Florida Hospitals are Seventh Day Adventist facilities and it was interesting/refreshing to see inspirational scriptures on the hospital walls-healing spirit and body.  Jesus healed many people during his ministry and faith in Him makes it much easier to weather challenges.

A hard day of missionary work:

New Florida Orlando Missionaries:

We love our work and cherish the opportunity to serve.  We feel a deepening connection and care for those in His church and those considering it.   We look forward to meeting many new people and helping them discover more joy and eternal blessings.
