Week 86: September 29-October 5, 2019

How blessed we are to have and hear General Conference twice a year.  Through inspiration, our church leaders can teach us gospel truths and motivate us to keep the commandments of God.   We are to edify and uplift each other.   As we do so, we will draw nearer to Heavenly Father and the Savior, Jesus Christ. The church is for everyone.  Through temple ordinances, families can be together forever linking generations of loved ones.

During Saturday’s sessions of Conference, Elder Faulk sensed the love the General YW president had for the girls.  He also liked the symbolism of African people giving up worshiped idolatries by throwing them in the churning waters of a waterfall to leave old ways behind and allow more room for the Gospel in their new life.  Sister Faulk loved hearing about (and agreed) the joy one feels when you give something your all, the difference between being fed and nourished, and letting your inner light shine.

The Sister missionaries had dinner with us Monday night.  We had mahi mahi and shrimp tacos with pico de guillo. coconut rice, buttered squash,  and pumpkin pie.  We love Sisters Curtis and Gates and admire their dedication and efforts to bring others unto Christ.  They are the Jr. missionary sister leaders in the mission.

Sister Faulk has another bad cold.  It's funny to catch one in sunny and warm Florida but a virus is going around.   She was grateful by Friday morning her voice returned as she presented to the new missionaries at the Trainer Follow meeting.  Throughout the week she avoided close encounters and the office to keep others healthy.  To pass the time at home, she rested, read, and completed Relief Society crafts from last week’s Super Saturday.  One Elder had a moderate reaction to eating shrimp this weekend.   Over the phone, Sister Faulk was able to keep him out of the hospital through frequent monitoring and several doses of Benadryl.

We love our family and miss them but we love the opportunity to serve Him.  The scriptures teach us there is a time/season for all things.  We hope to continue to love, serve, and progress in the Gospel.  We know He loves, cares for, and has a vested interest in each one of us.
