Week 63: April 21-27, 2019
Elder Faulk baptized a family, the Leezer’s, on his mission in St Louis over 40 years ago. While on vacation to celebrate Barbara’s 70th birthday, they stopped by the Florida Orlando mission office this week. They treated Elder Faulk to a great lunch at his favorite local burger place, Jr. Columbian Burgers. This was the Leezer’s 2nd time to visit us in Orlando. The Leezer’s accepted an invitation to have dinner with us and stay overnight. It was nice to see them again.
Larry and Barbara Leezer with Elder and Sister Faulk:
After consulting with mission leadership, we took some missionaries to the hospital for an urgent matter. We saw the hand of the Lord involved in missionary health once more. It was a faith promoting experience. The Lord knows and cares about us--each of us! How fortunate we are to have Priesthood blessings at hand.
On Friday, Sister Faulk met with the newest missionaries and their trainers to teach Health and Happiness. The lecture reinforces good habits for eating, sleeping, exercising, and spiritual growth. Afterward, President and Sister Clark provided pizza and salad in the cultural hall. The missionaries sure loved that!
We spent Saturday afternoon at Indiatlantic Beach. The weather was perfect--low 80s with a gentle breeze and clear blue sky. The sand was soft and warm but the ocean was still a little cool. We had our usual peanut butter and jelly picnic. Sister Faulk found 3 shark’s teeth walking along the shore.
Our English class is growing. We have over 15 learners! We feel a connection to them and are excited with their progress. We teach with love and seek the Holy Ghost to influence learning.
We love our callings and the missionaries we work with. We love Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, and are grateful for their confidence in us. Jesus is the ultimate example of love. Easter reminds us of the Atonement and that He lives! We gathered with the Kroeger’s, Ekenstam’s, and Carbine’s in our apartment for an Easter dinner. Our table was laden with unity and great food. Each couple brought food to make a feast. Elder Faulk cut the ham and Sister Faulk made key lime pie for dessert. It is blessing to serve in the Florida Orlando Mission!
