Week 45: December 16-22, 2018

The Christmas holiday season seems to bring out the best in people.   Kindness, love, forgiveness, and gratitude abound.   We enjoy being with the missionaries young and old.   They have a purpose-to share the gospel and to bring others unto Christ so they may feel the love and joy He has for us.  Our mission President and his wife, the Clark’s, are remarkable in their tireless efforts to love and support the missionaries.

Monday evening we had a marvelous Family Home Evening at the mission home.  We get together once a month for FHE, to go to the temple, and have a Saturday activity. The Carbines provided a ham.  The other Senior missionaries brought an assigned food and we had a nice meal.  Sister Faulk made a wedge salad.  After dinner, each couple spoke about their family traditions and we sang Christmas hymns between each discussion.  It was so much fun and everyone left feeling better acquainted and happy.

Wednesday we met at the Olive Garden for stuffed mushrooms, soup, and salad before attending an endowment session at the temple.

The Christmas Devotionals were held on Friday and Saturday this week.   The message of Christ prevailed.  We heard beautiful music and talks.  President Clark talked about his service as a young missionary in Ireland.  A short testimony meeting was held at the end of the meeting.  Elder Faulk shared his testimony on Saturday.  All the Senior missionaries made cakes and the mission office Sisters made enough Cesar Salad to feed an army. The Clark’s prepared the rest of the meal-ham, baked beans, rolls, and cheesy potatoes.

We wish all a very Merry Christmas as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ over 2000 years ago.  Our lives would be quite different without Him. He offers light and life, love and hope.  He is our Savior.   He is our brother.  He is Heavenly Father’s Son.  He is the Prince of Peace.
