Week 31: September 9-15, 2018
You can tell how busy our week was by the number of times we ate at McDonald's. We ate there quite a bit this week and sometimes twice a day. Sunday, the Lake Nona Ward Portuguese speaking Elders and Ruben came for dinner. We had meatloaf, sweet potatoes with honey butter, corn on the cob with garlic butter, and salad. For dessert we had cherry chocolate chop frozen yogurt and chocolate chip cookies. There was only a little salad left over.
Making a McDonald's Run:
Zone Conference was held Tuesday for the southern half of the mission and Thursday for the Northern half of the mission. Elder Faulk is one of the audio visual guys. Sister Faulk gave a presentation on Colds vs, Flu: The More You Know. The main take home messages were wash your hands and get a flu shot. Flu shots will be given at the next Zone Conferences.
Tuesday night we attended a Paul Simon concert in downtown Orlando. It was his farewell tour. Over the past 50 years, he has contributed a lot to music and seeks to promote good in the world.
Paul Simon Farewell Tour:
Friday night we attended a Stake Fireside. Elder Patrick spoke about faith. Elder Stanfill spoke about being a good friend, sharing the Gospel, and making covenants. It was encouraging to hear how simple acts of kindness brought others peace and joy as they become closer to Jesus Christ.
Saturday we met long time friends Michelle and Steve at a Women's Fair. Sister Faulk helped Michelle in her booth selling beautiful handmade totes. Afterward we went to Jeremiah's in Mount Dora for relaxing conversation and juicy burgers. We appreciate having good friends!
Michelle and Sister Faulk at the Fair:
We stopped at Costco hoping to increase our ocean boogie board supply for the grandchildren. Much to our dismay we found they are selling winter items now instead. But to our delight, we discovered pumpkin pie season has begun! Elder Faulk installed 2 needed coat racks in our apartment Saturday night.
We find strength in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and in family and friends. We need each other to lift , support, and sustain each other. We need His word to remind us of His love for all of His children and we need the Holy Ghost in our lives to prompt and guide us for a happier life's journey. We are ever so thankful to serve Him in the Florida Orlando Mission.
