Week 27: August 12-18, 2018

Sunday marked our 6 month date serving as full time Sr missionaries! After Sacrament meeting, Sister Faulk and Sister Sister Puls, drove to Bradenton (near Tampa) to see one of our Elders in the hospital.  He was injured during a service project.  The local hospital transferred him to a larger one (out of our mission) to care for his needs.  The Tampa mission was contacted and their Elders visited him.   We wish Elder Thomas a full and speedy recovery. Sister Puls is an amazing example of need help, can do!

Florida Orlanda and Tampa Missionaries:

Tuesday we took an Elder to a GI specialist to learn about test results.  What a blessing it was to hear good news.  We celebrated with brunch at IHOP.  It was fun to feed some hungry young men again.

Breakfast with Elders Archibald and Witt at IHOP:

Wednesday and Thursday we attend Zone Conference for the Southern then Northern halves of the mission.  Elders Costa and Christensen and their wives spoke to us along with President and Sister Clark.  The theme was finding people to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and inviting them to come unto Christ.  We were uplifted and edified by by their powerful messages.  Sister Carpenter said the Book of Mormon is her best friend. When you have faith and trust in Our Savior, you can weather any storm more easily.

Friday morning, Sister Faulk made a giant peach cobbler with a #10 can of peaches.  It was for a missionary training meeting.  Sister Gould was in charge of the meal.  She made the most delicious zuppa tuscana.  Bread and salad were also served.  Everyone loved the lunch and there was just a little left over soup, bread, and peach cobbler for a meal for the mission office staff!  We love all our missionaries and are especially grateful for Sister Gould who blesses us through her talents.

Saturday is our preparation day.  We got up before dawn to do our chores.  After taking a few missionary ill calls, we headed for the beach where we received a few more missionary ill calls.  We found the beach delightful and just what we needed to relax.  It is a perfect place to read and ponder the scriptures.  Most of the time we sat under our shady umbrellas and watched as children played in the water.  We enjoyed watching the tide come in and start to recede.  The water was warm and the ocean bottom was nice and soft.  We always take a peanut butter and jelly picnic with us when we go to the beach.  We stopped for a bite at Firehouse Subs before driving home.  It was a beautiful day and we continue to marvel at Heavenly Father's creations on land and sea.

Spessard Holland North Beach Park:

We appreciate the beauty of the heavens and earth and all of our blessings.   We recognize God's hand in our lives and the influence of Jesus Christ.  We hope our efforts reflect His example of charity and show our love for Him.
