Week 24: July 22-28, 2018

Happy Pioneer Day everyone!  We celebrated this Utah holiday remembering the Mormon pioneers coming into the Salt Lake Valley by working in Florida.  We are so grateful for their beliefs, courage, and sacrifices to make Utah a pretty great place.

Sunday we were treated to a scrumptious dinner by Stephanie and Diego Meneghetti.  Stephanie was baptized less than a month ago!  She made her mother’s Portuguese lasagna. Oh it was good!

Tuesday we were thrilled to learn our granddaughter, Abby, had a successful tonsil and adenoid surgery.  She is a dear girl.  We pray her recovery will be speedy.

Wednesday we invited our ward’s Sister missionaries for dinner and discovered 2 Elders around our apartment near dinner time so we invited them too.  Elder Faulk made his family’s taco recipe and Sister Faulk made a lemon dessert.  Elder Faulk gave the Sisters blessings by their request.

On Friday Riley, our grandson, turned 5!  Happy Birthday Riley!  He loves life!  He is such a fun boy.

Friday afternoon we journeyed to the city of Vero Beach where Sister Faulk got a haircut and we had a giant hand tossed pizza.

Throughout the work week we took several missionaries to see clinical specialists and made a special trip to deliver medical supplies and mail to an area hours from the mission office.  It is great to become more familiar with areas in our mission.

We woke up Saturday and headed straight for a beach to get a little sunshine before the rain came.   We settled on Pineda Beach between Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach.   We marvel at the power of the waves and think of our Creator.   It was inspiring to see the ocean, feel the breeze, and read spiritual articles.  In the July’s 2018 issue of the Ensign, the last article was a portion of a previous message from President Ezra Taft Benson about the Book of Mormon.  It reads, “There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. ..the scriptures are called the words of life…When you begin to hunger and thirst after those words, you will find life in greater and greater abundance…These promises increased love and harmony in the home, greater respect between parent and child, increased spirituality and righteousness are not idle promises…the Book of Mormon will help us draw near to God. ..make the study of this book a lifetime pursuit…let us win the promises associated with treasuring it up in our hearts."  This is what the pioneers and we hope for!
