Week 20: June 24-30, 2018
Stephanie was baptized by her husband on Saturday!
Stephanie's Baptism:
Monday morning we met an Elder at the orthopedic surgeon for an evaluation. Three other Elders accompanied him (vehicle sharing). Afterward, we headed to McDonald's for their 2nd breakfast. While there, some Senior citizens struck up a conversation with them saying they eat breakfast there every morning. The Seniors ended up with 2 Book of Mormons! One Elder pulled one out of his backpack and Sister Faulk retrieved one from her car. We hope they read and ponder it and feel the peace it brings.
2nd Breakfast of the Day:
Monday evening we surprised Elders Gould and Kroeger with an all you can eat wing dinner at Gators Dockside to express our appreciation for helping us move. We didn't ask them to help. They saw a need and jumped into action on a blazing hot day in Orlando. Their wives were invited too and helped us keep the dinner plans a secret. Of course we enjoyed alligator bites for appetizers.
Alligator Appetizers:
Elder Gould Winging It:
Tuesday we celebrated Sister Gould's birthday. Sisters Kroeger and Faulk took her to lunch at Panera Bread. Sister Gould makes it her practice to bless and lift others.
Sister Gould's Birthday Lunch:
Wednesday the mission office missionary couples welcomed a new Senior couple from Utah, the Carbines, into the mission. They are called to serve in the Bishop's Storehouse. All 8 of us gathered to become better acquainted over a scrumptious ham dinner and lemonade floats.
Thursday Elder Faulk gave the 7-11 manager a pair of Book of Mormons. She noticed Elder Faulk's name tag and asked if he was Mormon. One of her former neighbors was a Bishop and he gave her a Book of Mormon in her native Ethiopian language but she lost it. Elder Faulk gave her one in English and one in Ethiopian. Mimi gladly accepted the scriptures and promised to read them!
Friday morning Sister Faulk taught the latest group of missionaries about health and happiness. The missionaries have been in the Florida Orlando Mission less than a month. Two of those missionaries are waiting for their Visas to go to Vanuatu. A mission is full of opportunities for lifelong learning and following Him. We love our mission are most grateful for this opportunity to serve.
