Week 9: April 8-14, 2018

We had the opportunity to attend the temple twice this week!  The temple is so beautiful and offers a sense of heavenly peace.  It truly is the House of the Lord. Thursday evening we joined 2 other senior missionary couples and their company in an endowment session.  Friday morning, we met in the temple with the mission president and his wife, and missionaries who have served diligently and are now preparing to return home.   We love and appreciated their efforts in sharing the message of the restoration of His gospel.

One of the Mission Office couples spent an overnight with us due to illness.  Their apartment is on the 3rd floor but ours is on the ground level.   The MD advised no stairs and we were happy to offer them someplace easy to access.  At the office we have become like a family interested in and supporting each other, rejoicing in happiness and sharing each other’s burdens.

Sister Faulk and the Sister missionaries met with Sean, an investigator to answer his questions about the church and invite him to Sunday meetings.  Some of the people he works with are LDS.  In general, he is very interested in religion and has attended services of various faiths.  We touched on faith and learning line upon line, emphasizing learning is a continuum which does not end at death.

Saturday we drove North to see some old friends/colleagues, Michelle and Steve.  They recently moved to Mount Dora, Florida.  We went bargain hunting at an indoor/outdoor weekend flea market.  Afterward, we had giant juicy burgers at Jeremiah’s. It was so good to see old friends, and we look forward to getting together more often.

Sister Faulk gave a Book of Mormon to the man behind the deli counter.  His daughter recently accepted a job in AZ.  Seeing her missionary name-tag, the man asked if she might pray for his daughter’s safe journey alone cross country.   Not only did she do that but added his daughter’s name to the temple prayer roll.   The daughter made it safe to her home.   Sister Faulk thanked the man for sharing something that meant so much to him and said the Book of Mormon means so much to her!

Each morning and evening as we say prayers, we count our many blessings and recognize Him.  We feel our journey in life is guided by divine design and through faith we may go forth in strength and love.
