Week 7: March 25-31, 2018

Happy Easter everyone!  We are so blessed to think of Christ, speak of Christ, learn from Him, and feel His love.  We are grateful for His restored gospel and to be members of His true church.

We were thrilled and grateful to learn surgery for Camee and baby Cedar went well.   We look forward to her birth and can’t wait to meet her.   Although she already has some challenges in her life, we know Heavenly Father is keenly aware of her and her family.

This week we had the opportunity to participate in Zone Conferences.  Tuesday we held conference for the southern half of the mission and Thursday we traveled north for the other half.   The conferences lasted most of the day and consisted of general audience meetings and breakout sessions.   Assigned by the mission president, Sister Faulk spoke about health:  dehydration and mosquito bites (2 preventable problems).  Local wards provided great lunches.  Under the tutelage of Elder Hogman, Elder Faulk learned how to wire for audio-visual technology.

Early Friday morning we attended the temple with missionaries from prearranged zones.  It is wonderful to see young adults honor Him through temple covenants.   After our session, we walked the perimeter of the temple.  There wasn’t a cloud in the sky and we counted at least 5 small lizards on one wall sunning themselves.

Friday night we met with the YSA sister missionaries who continue to teach Ruben.   He is reading the Book of Mormon in English, but when he comes to a passage that is difficult to understand, he reads it in Spanish.  In March he was invited to be baptized and accepted.  Now he agreed to be baptized on April 21st There is always something to learn about the church, and baptism is the key to becoming a member. The Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion.  If you come to know that Book is true, then all other aspects of our church follow suit.

While shopping at Penney’s, Sister Faulk met a woman named Cookie, who is interested in religion.  Cookie initially thought Sister Faulk attended church on Saturday.  During conversation, she asked Sister Faulk if she lived in the East and rode in buggies.  Sister Faulk said she is a Mormon and offered her a free book to learn what the church is all about.  Sister Faulk said the book would be hand delivered!  Cookie promised to read it over the summer.  She lives in the Tampa mission and two Elders serving in that mission were excited to learn about her.  They made arrangements to deliver a Book of Mormon to her and give another copy to her mother.   Sister Faulk told the Elders about the RED5 program and how manageable it is to read the Book of Mormon in 100 days.   The Elders were anxious to tell their Bishop about it.

Elder Faulk shared a Book of Mormon with Jonathon, a bank loan officer.   Jonathon believes in God but does not profess to belong to any faith.  He has a wife and baby boy.  Elder Faulk told him the Book of Mormon would change his life.

We know Jesus Christ is our Savior and He lives today.  He is there for us.  Through His Atonement, we may draw neared to God.
